Report description
When you are purchasing a property, it always pays to know the potential risks.
As home owners we spend a lot of time and money protecting and maintaining our homes. However we are often blissfully unaware of what hazards our homes may be exposed to in relation to the ground upon which they are built or the surrounding area. Are you aware of the potential hazards relative to your home and how these could cause potential harm to your home should an event such as an earthquake or landslide occur?
The Hazard reports give you an indication of what these hazards might be for a property. You can use this information in combination with helpful information provided by EQC and PropertyInsight including a background on natural hazards in New Zealand (PDF, 325 KB) to better prepare for a hazard event.
The Hazard report contains information from different sources and the availability of information is region specific. Data may not exist for all hazards and availability also depends on the willingness of regional and local councils to make hazard information available. The hazards available for your area are shown in the table below, which also indicates which Hazard report (standard or premium) is provided for your area.

* The Earthquake hazard assessment includes earthquake frequency, ground shaking amplification, liquefaction and fault rupture.
Note: The hazard report for a property does not replace a site inspection or an engineering geological report for a property.
