The QV House Price Index measures house price movement throughout New Zealand, providing an indicator of capital growth and how prices are trending in your area.

Our latest QV House Price Index shows home values increased across New Zealand Aotearoa by an average of 2.2% over the three months to the end of March 2024 – a slightly faster rate of growth than the 1.3% quarterly growth recorded back in February. The national average home value is now $924,4734, which is 1.9% higher than the same time last year.

Biggest and smallest regional value changes - March quarter 2024

Low sales volumes are causing statistics to fluctuate in Aotearoa’s smaller towns and districts, with Gisborne and Ruapehu featuring among the largest average declines this quarter. Grey and Kawerau saw the largest average home value increases.
