Property value change over the past 3 and 12 months
Over the past twelve months property values at a National level first dropped for a few months, then levelled, and for the past few months have been gradually increasing. As a result, values are very currently very similar to what they were twelve months ago, but have increased over the past three months.
This pattern varies across the country. The two charts below show the percentage value change in the QV index over the past three months and over the past twelve months.
While many areas are still below the same time last year (with the notable exceptions being Auckland and Canterbury), around half the areas have increased over the past three months.
For some areas there were too few sales to generate a reliable index, so these are not shown.
