QV seeks additional information on NZ farmland

No-one knows your property like you do. That’s why QV has sent out about 9,000 questionnaires to the owners of farm properties in the following districts:

  • Ashburton
  • Wairoa
  • Kawerau
  • Kaikoura
  • Southland
  • Grey
  • South Taranaki
  • Wellington
  • Palmerston North
  • Selwyn
  • Queenstown
  • Central Hawke’s Bay
  • Nelson
  • Chatham Islands

The purpose of the questionnaires is to gather information that will help our team of valuers ensure the accuracy of the three-yearly revaluation of rating values within your local district. Any information we collect will NOT be held or shared with any other third party for any other purpose.

What we use the information for

So much has happened since our last rating valuation in your area – the British and Irish Lions have been and gone, ‘Corona’ is no longer just a beer, and the Crusaders have won three more Super Rugby titles.

We want to know of any changes that may have occurred to your property during this time, including:

  • Fencing
  • Improvements to buildings
  • Irrigation capability
  • Resource consent information
  • Significant events, such as flooding
  • The impact of nutrient management plans

Production levels are considered when determining rating valuations for some categories of rural property. The returned questionnaires allow for analysis to be carried out on the average efficient carrying capacity of various land classes, the relationship between value and production, and also any impact environmental restrictions may impose.

The data obtained from these questionnaires helps us to interpret any market movement or land use change so that the value attributed to your property is more accurate.

Any questions?

The letters request that all surveys be completed online by 18 June 2021. No paper survey forms have been posted with the survey request letters. Owners may request a hard copy form from us, or provide information by their own format.
