The QV House Price Index measures house price movement throughout New Zealand, providing an indicator of capital growth and how prices are trending in your area.
The average New Zealand home decreased in value by 4.9% nationally over the past three-month period to the end of July, an increase from the 3.4% reduction we reported back in June, with the national average value now sitting at $989,790. This represents an average annual increase of 4%, down from 7.2% annual growth last month.

Though home values dropped by an average of 4.9% nationally this quarter, there continues to be pockets of relatively robust home value growth in the provincial centres, with Wairoa (10.2%) and Mackenzie District (9.3%) recording the most growth this quarter by far.
