New Zealand’s average home value increased 3.3% nationally over the past three-month period to the end of August, down from the 4.3% quarterly growth we saw in July, with the national average value now sitting at $963,046. Prices have increased by an average of 26.6% in the past 12 months.

Biggest and smallest regional value changes - August quarter 2021

The Waikato District (13.8%) sits at the top of our regional growth chart for the August quarter, followed by Waimate (10.9%), and Grey District (10.1%). At the other end of the spectrum, more regions saw value drops than in previous quarters, with Wairoa (-8.2%) declining the most.
