The QV House Price Index measures house price movement throughout New Zealand, providing an indicator of capital growth and how prices are trending in your area.

Residential property values have plateaued across much of New Zealand Aotearoa in recent months. Our latest QV House Price Index shows that the average value increased nationally by just a fraction of a percentage point in the three months to the end of April 2024 – a significant slowdown from the 2.2% quarterly home value growth recorded at the end of March.

Biggest and smallest regional value changes - April quarter 2024

Low sales volumes are causing statistics to fluctuate in Aotearoa’s smaller towns and districts, with Hauraki and Ruapehu featuring among the largest average declines this quarter. Kawerau and Kaikoura saw the largest average home value increases.
